Ministry in a House Divided

What does it mean to preach faithfully when the congregation itself is divided—when the pews hold people whose deepest convictions about politics, justice, and the common good have become irreconcilable? The 2025 Schooler Institute did not look away from that question. Over two days, theologians and preachers gathered at MTSO to think through the practice of ministry in an era of fracture. What emerged was not a set of talking points, but a discipline: how to hold pastoral presence and prophetic witness together without losing either.
